Thank you for taking the time to visit this website and find out more about the role of Chief Executive here at Dacorum Borough Council. This is a very important appointment for the council and I look forward to working closely with the successful candidate to deliver the very best outcomes for our community and businesses.
Our new Chief Executive will inherit an excellent foundation on which to build. The district has benefited from a £30m regeneration programme that has transformed some of our key urban locations, and key facilities such as the Tring Sports Centre and Maylands Business Park have also benefited from investment. A new multi-storey car park is also scheduled to open in Berkhamstead within the coming weeks that will greatly enhance town centre accessibility and alleviate congestion.
We are proud to have delivered 300 new homes as part of our house building programme, and we plan to step this up, with another 400 homes in the pipeline. And we have committed to invest approximately £20m per year on maintaining and improving our existing properties (the council currently owns 10,150 homes).
So our new Chief Executive will quickly discover that we are an authority that is commercially minded and ready to think strategically about the next 20 years, as well as focusing on delivering high quality services to our customers today. The council’s finances are sound, and good financial management principles are adhered to across all our services.
I expect that the ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate strong credentials in organisational leadership – even if this is their first Chief Executive role. I’m keen to hear from individuals who can bring a breadth of strategic perspective to the role and add value across a wide range of services.
